One year ago today I received a phone call that made my blood freeze. Those of you who have followed my blog for a while now know that my mom was in a horrible accident that day, leaving her with broken bones all over her body, fluid in her lungs, and a traumatic brain injury with severe blood hemmoraging.

My mother’s story is one of survival and triumph. I am so proud of her fierce spirit that had her tackling nurses even when unconscious and fighting bravely for her life.

I am grateful to my mother for choosing to stay and fight. I am grateful to the Creator for enabling her complete recovery. I am grateful to the doctors and nurses who contributed their part to saving her life.

And I am grateful to the many people who supported my mom and me through six traumatic months — whether taking my hysterical phone calls in the middle of the night, visiting my mom in the hospital, actively praying for my mom, or driving me to the airport for emergency trips up north.

May all of you be blessed with light, love, and healing.
