I just got back from Whole Foods and was delighted to find a big fat section of an aisle dedicated to raw vegan foods – including, hurrah! Chocolate stuff! I am trying to figure out what do about simple carbs that are not processed sugar – ie, organic honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar. I’m interested in hearing from anyone with expertise in this stuff.
Meanwhile, I went ahead and indulged. Hell, I’ve basically cleared out my entire kitchen and am going totally hard core. I need at least a little fun in my new diet! Plus the total sugar in each raw vegan sweet is like 6 g. Snooze. As far as I’m concerned, that there is negligible amounts of sugar.
I’m very grateful to all the people who forged the path of the raw vegan foods movement, as well as all who forged the path of the gluten free movement. While I’m making a big adjustment in my eating habits, and while I anticipate I may be screaming for a slab o’ stake or hunk o’ cheese somewhere down the line, all those who came before me, fighting illness or imbalance through nutrition, have made my life totally easy in comparison to what they must have gone through.
So to all you nutrition badasses who came before me: Thank you.
